High Jump with Kelly Sports

Room 3 enjoyed learning how to run up, and jump over, the high jump bar this afternoon with Kelly Sports.  Here are some photos of some of our higher jumps!

Len Lye: Dance of Life

On Thursday 10 November we visited the Govett Brewster Art Gallery to look at Len Lye's kinetic sculptures.  We thought about how movement can be part of art and we worked in groups to create our own composition of movement.  In groups of 6 we drew some shapes and words to represent movement onto transparent plastic and then we created a dance which reflected two of the movements we had drawn. Our transparent drawings were projected onto the screen behind us and then we performed our movement composition to our class.  Have fun looking at the videos of our movement compositions.  Videos will hopefully be up soon.  We are having a little trouble loading them on at present - enjoy these photos until we can get the videos loaded :).

BIG thanks too, to our wonderful parent helpers.  We couldn't do these exciting activities without you :).

Spelling - Term 4

For Term 4 we are revising many of our spelling words to make sure that we are super spellers.  If the words you receive in your notebooks are too easy for the week you can go back to some of our previous lists and check that you still remember them.   - Mrs Brown

Term 4

Well, it's not long now until the start of Term 4. There are lots of exciting things planned for the term and it will be a busy and rewarding time. Have an enjoyable last week of the school holidays and I look forward to seeing you all next week - Mrs Brown.

Fitzroy School Folk Dance

What a fantastic night we had at the Fitzroy School Folk Dance on the 29 September at the YMCA. Of course, the dancing was outstanding and the audience too was very impressive. We think we all looked great - so enjoy the pictures.

The Ranfurly Shield

Wow, look at this great picture of us with the Ranfurly Shield. We were lucky enough to all have our photo taken with the shield and we also got a class photo. Go Taranaki!

Look Back to Look Forward - part 2

Wow, look at this neat transport timeline we found. Have a talk about some of the different types of transport on it and when they first began. Which type of transport is the most modern? Why do you think this one only began to be developed in the 1900's? Why do you think the different types of transport have changed over the years? What do you think transport will be like in the future? (The dates on the timeline go - 800s 1300s 1600s 1700s 1800s 1900s and present)

Have fun discussing these ideas at home and then don't forget to bring your ideas to school. If you want to bring a family photo or old transport model/artefact then please do. We would also love to receive your ideas and comments via this blog for us to read and share.

Look Back to Look Forward

In the Junior Syndicate we are currently learning about technology and how it has changed over time. The area we are investigating at the moment is TRANSPORT. We have talked about transport, what it is and why we have it, and have also identified lots of different types of transport. We are currently talking about transport of the past, present and future.

We would like you to post comments on transport when you were young. Include information about how you got to school, what type/s of transport you had at home and transport you may have used for holidays. We would also love to hear from grandparents and great grandparents so contact them with this blog address or post a comment for them.

Room 3

Cricket Skills

Room 3 had a great morning learning cricket skills with the fantastic team from Taranaki Cricket. Tim and Amie were excellent teachers, even if they were beaten by us during the challenges, and we are all keen to learn more. Thank you Taranaki Cricket for providing us with this opportunity.

Spring is here!

Today we made daffodils to celebrate Spring. We took a photo of ourselves and put it in the middle of our daffodil. We made the daffodils out of paper and cupcake papers. We think they look amazing!
